"Boko Haram, my worst nightmare" says Jonathan.

The President yesterday expressed frustration over the security challenge occasioned by Boko Haram menace, which seemed like a wound that refuses to heal. Addressing chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party ((PDP) at the 60th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja,
President Goodluck Jonathan admitted that he promised Nigerians job creation, food security and stable power supply, but noted that the threat posed to the lives of the citizenry by the Islamist sect’s deadly attacks constituted a big distraction to governance. But he assured party faithful that the menace would soon be a thing of the past.

“During our campaigns, we talked about food security, job creation and power. But the topmost issue now is security. If you aren’t safe, you cannot even talk about food; a dead man doesn’t eat.  But there is hope that the issue of Boko Haram will also come down.’’

The President noted that henceforth, ministers would be invited to make presentations at the party’s NEC meetings to intimate the faithful on their contributions towards the attainment of his administration’s Transformation Agenda.

“We shall start with the National Security Adviser (NSA), we feel sad about what Nigerians are saying about government’s activities.’

Giving an insight into the agenda of the meeting, President Jonathan disclosed that the parley was meant to adopt the party’s amended constitution, to enable the organs function effectively. “Today, maybe we shall adopt the party’s constitution, so that all the organs of the party be effectively constituted. It is my hope that they will be used to help the party.
